Employment Counsel The candidate will partner with People & Purpose and other business functions to support our core values of innovation, customer service, integrity, and profitability, while ensuring that Workday maintains a culture of fairness, development and fun for its employees. Will work closely with other members of the Employment Legal team. Counsel and provide guidance to People & Purpose regarding employee relations issues (including employee performance, terminations, leaves of absence, and accommodation requests). Provide pragmatic advice to the business on domestic and international employment laws and matters. Manage the company s response to business records subpoenas and similar requests for employment-related records. Draft and review various types of employment agreements. Assist in handling administrative claims and litigation (e.g. discrimination, wage and hour, etc.). Conduct diligence and advise on employee-related issues in mergers and acquisitions, and assist with employment-related projects, including review of internal procedures, new policies, and benefits.

The candidate should have Juris Doctor degree from a leading law school, and. Licensed and in good standing to practice law in California (or another US state) is essential. Must have 3-5 years of diverse and high-quality employment law experience in a leading law firm or as in-house employment counsel. Solid knowledge of employment laws and experience advising on major federal and California employment laws such as Title VII, FMLA, ADA, FLSA and state equivalents is essential.Experience addressing and resolving complex and sensitive employee relations and compliance issues is essential. Excellent written and oral communication skills, legal research skills, and interpersonal skills is essential. Experience in the following areas will be viewed favorably: International employment law; privacy issues and background checks; noncompete agreements (and related covenants); employee-related issues in mergers and acquisitions; compensation, benefits and ERISA.
