Employment Attorney The candidate will support and enable the transformation of the Molecular Solutions Human Resources team into an indispensable strategic business partner. Will serve as a primary counselor to the HR team and business leadership across a highly matrixed regional and global organization. Responsible for understanding business initiatives and goals and operationalizing legal requirements into efficient and effective business processes to ensure compliance and foster an appropriate employee experience and culture. Also must be able to direct and manage the outside counsel who handle the company's employment litigation. Supports and partners with the Chief Employment Counsel responsible for leading Roche Molecular Solution's employment matters in the U.S. Manages day-today legal matters employing considerable independent legal judgment, experience and analysis to determine appropriate legal responses and planning to meet business needs of a highly matrixed global organization. Provides day to day advice on a broad range of employment matters including staffing, performance management, employee relations, discrimination, harassment and other EEO matters, affirmative action plans, wage and hour, restrictive covenants, training programs, discipline and terminations and employment contracts. Help develop, implement and train on first-class employment policies and programs that appropriately balance legal risk with business impact. Establishes a rapport and working relationship with employees at all levels in order to act as a trusted advisor. Collaborates/interfaces with cross-functional partners, including regional and global teams, on complex projects to enhance employment law compliance across multiple jurisdictions. Partners with representatives of other departments, including human resources and compliance, on internal investigations. Keeps the company's senior management informed of significant labor and employment decisions, legislation, and regulatory rulings that may affect the company's business or policies. Knowledgeable of related legislative, regulatory and judicial developments and trends that may impact the company and remains current with U.S. state and federal law and regulations applicable to employment matters. Provides general counseling and appropriate other legal service to all levels of the business on any legal issues having a basis in laws, rules or regulations of U.S. regulatory agencies. Conducts employee, manager and human resources training. Coordinates responses to charges from state and federal agencies. Manages outside counsel in employment litigation matters.

The candidate must have 8+ years' experience handling employment law matters in the U.S. Must have relevant experience in a respected law firm and/or multinational corporation, preferably in both settings. Must have excellent knowledge of relevant California and federal employment laws and regulations, including Title VII, ADEA, FMLA, CFRA, FLSA etc. Must have outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written and a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain open, candid and trusting working relationships. Superior client relations and interpersonal skills, strong self-awareness and honed diplomacy skills required. Must have Litigation experience in the employment law arena.
