Senior Counsel, Global Intellectual Property The candidate will addresse and manages all aspects of Intellectual Property (IP) legal needs for all strategic business units including: drafting, negotiating, interpreting, and advising internal clients on IP related agreements, such as non-disclosure agreements, license agreements, and IP provisions in commercial agreements (such as manufacturing agreements and supply agreements). Will evaluate inventions to determine patentability. Drafts, files, and processes patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and international counterparts. Advises and counsels internal clients on various IP matters involving copyrights, patents, trademarks, and trade secrets. Manages the global IP portfolio; manages outside counsel on IP matters; and counsels internal clients on the above on a global basis with input from local counsel(s) as required. Manages global IP portfolio. Advises internal clients with respect to IP needs of global business units. Drafts, negotiates, interprets, and advises internal clients on IP-related agreements. Manages patent applications directly and through outside counsel. Provides advice with respect to IP-related litigation. Develops and implements global IP policies for the organization. Advises business units on legal matters related to trademark infringement and other IP violations (including copyright). Works with cross-functional teams on legal issues arising under various laws, including the E-Commerce Directive, Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), and Communications Decency Act (CDA). Coordinates intermediary liability and notice-and-take-down matters with a world-wide network of outside counsel. Works with internal business leaders, senior management, internal marketing, Research & Development, global manufacturing teams, outside law firms, USPTO, and other international regulatory bodies on Intellectual Property matters for firm. Performs additional duties as directed.

The candidate should have Juris Doctorate from accredited law school. Must be Licensed by at least one state Bar. USPTO Bar admission preferred. Must have 10+ years of intellectual property experience, either in-house or with a major US-based law firm. Must have 10+ years of intellectual property experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or related healthcare field. International experience/exposure is required. Previous experience coordinating intermediary liability and notice-and-takedown matters with a world-wide network of outside counsel is required. Must have experience with IP intermediary liability issues and laws (E-Commerce Directive, DMCA, CDA, etc). Experience assessing legal risks, as well as practical, business, and reputational risks is required. Experience leading and multi-tasking on priorities and projects is required. Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing comprehensive strategic IP programs to advance an organization's strategy and goals is required.
