Counsel IV - Technology and Telecommunications Counsel

Counsel IV - Technology and Telecommunications Counsel The candidate will work with and advise IT professionals, technologists, and privacy and data security professionals on compliance with U.S. federal, state, and global laws and regulations related to information technology and telecommunications technology, global server technology, database architecture, and information networks. Review, advise on, revise, or negotiate both inbound and outbound technology-related contracts. Have a working knowledge of privacy, data security, and intellectual property laws. Analyze laws, regulations, and corporate policies and standards related to wireless and wireline telecommunications technology such as VoIP, e911, BYOD and other communications solutions, information technology, software development and licensing, geocompliance, hardware leasing and acquisition, including practical experience working with the FCC. Have experience with legal strategic planning in implementing global technology acquisitions; implementing global communications technology; administering, monitoring, and managing contracts for technology and communications products and services; and resolving business disputes. Be skilled and have broad experience designing and implementing corporate governance processes and procedures on a global scale. Be experienced with technology-related outsourcing and offshoring, including legal risk assessments and due diligence. Be skilled with gathering information in a fast-paced business environment, understanding business needs and goals, detecting legal issues and obstacles, identifying legal solutions and alternatives, and succinctly and competently counseling and communicating with executives and mid-level managers regarding legal risks, solutions, and alternatives. The candidate must have 8+ years of experience as a practicing attorney; or 6+ years of experience as a practicing attorney and 2+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following areas: risk, compliance, contracts, government/regulatory, financial services, or technology. Active State Bar membership is essential. Should preferably have extensive knowledge and understanding of research, counsel, and guidance on complex legal questions or inquiries. Knowledge of telecommunications and technology laws and regulations preferred. Knowledge of information security laws and standards preferred. Knowledge of intellectual property laws preferred.
