Assistant General Counsel - Mortgage Banking Servicing - Vp

Assistant General Counsel - Mortgage Banking Servicing - VP The candidate will help maintain compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations impacting the mortgage servicing business. Will work cooperatively with the Compliance Department to keep up with all changes to the laws and advise the relevant LOBs of changes in a timely manner. Assist the relevant LOBs with drafting and implementing policies and procedures to assure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and investor requirements. Provide legal advice to the Servicing Transformation Group focusing on the development of technology solutions that will transform the servicing customer experience and expedite customer solutions. Provide legal advice and ongoing support for Performing Servicing Operations including Customer Operations and Account Management. Provide legal advice and ongoing support for Default Servicing and Loss Mitigation Servicing Operations. Advise senior management within the Legal Department and LOBs of servicing risks within the organization and help devise practical solutions for any issues raised. The candidate should have a J.D. degree or equivalent and be admitted to practice law in the US. Must have 5+ years of experience practicing law post-J.D. degree. Should also have 5+ years of experience in the legal department of a mortgage servicing area at a large bank, mortgage servicer, relevant regulatory entity, or law firm. Must be licensed to practice law and a member in good standing in in the state/jurisdiction in which the position is based or otherwise in compliance with the in-house counsel registration rules of that state/jurisdiction. Experience working closely with banking regulators and managing examinations is required. Should have extensive knowledge of federal and state laws impacting mortgage servicing such as TILA, ECOA, FCRA, FDCPA, RESPA, the Fair Housing Act, the Homeowners Protection Act, and predatory lending laws. In depth understanding of FHA, VA, USDA, GSE, and HAMP servicing rules is essential. Extensive knowledge of laws impacting electronic lending including UETA and ESIGN is a must.
