Managing Counsel, Data For Cybersecurity, Data & Privacy Legal Team The candidate role will be managing counsel for the company Corporate Data Office, the organization responsible for data governance and acquisition, fueling company s digital transformation. Role will consist of: Representing a diverse group of global clients on legal issues related to data, including privacy and data protection, working in a team environment with other legal and business professionals around the world, including the CDO, CIO, CTO and CISO. Crafting the global data acquisition and governance programs, collaborating on development of data policies and guidelines, and reviewing data policies and controls. Driving dataset acquisition, data mapping, classification, and related data management and compliance programs. Building strong partnerships across all of company s business units and groups including legal, compliance, information security, HR, product security, sales and marketing, and procurement. Advising business unit product and data science and innovation teams regarding proposed or potential data use/product features, and clearly communicate and help non-experts understand applicable regulations and requirements. Counseling clients on all aspects of domestic and international laws concerning data-related issues, including cross-border data transfers. Assisting broader legal team in driving business units to incorporate privacy by design into products/services and adopting innovative solutions from inception to end-of-life. Providing data and privacy impact assessments and compliance counseling to business teams, including growth businesses and new technologies. Counseling clients on incident preparedness and response. Supporting broader legal team in ongoing development of company's privacy compliance program, including GDPR. Researching and tracking global data, privacy and data protection legislation, evolving regulations, and enforcement and translating them into practical advice. Creating and presenting unique content through training, internal publications and webinars designed to enhance company's culture and comprehension of data, privacy and cybersecurity laws and topics. Working with the Policy Group, other attorneys, the company Corporate Data Office, company Privacy Office, Information Security, and other colleagues in influencing new laws, regulations, and guidelines that may affect company's businesses. Contributing to our ongoing mission to maximize company's impact through personal empowerment, practical solutions, and optimal results on complex global data, privacy and cybersecurity risks and opportunities.

The candidate should have Juris Doctorate, with 8 years relevant legal experience in data, privacy and cybersecurity law. Active membership in at least one U.S. state Bar is required. Should have strong data background, including deep understanding of privacy, copyright, and data licensing, and will drive company data stewardship vision collaborating with peers and data science clients, analysts and engineers, enabling data innovation across our business environment. Experience in the technology or computer industry and/or in-house legal work would be an added advantage, as well as CIPP certification. Should have experience emerging trends in the various states, and a working knowledge of international data, privacy and cybersecurity laws, particularly in the EU, Asia or Latin America. Must have demonstrated ability to independently manage a diverse and complex workload, lead initiatives and teams while maintaining priorities and proactively anticipating issues. Should have consistent good judgment and ability to apply legal knowledge to help create practical business solutions. Must have excellent and demonstrated verbal and written communication skills at all levels of an organization. Data engineering and technology background a plus (and/or a data-related undergrad degree).
