Litigation Counsel The candidate oversees litigation and pre-litigation matters related to the Company as assigned by the Chief Litigation Counsel or General Counsel. Acts as a liaison between outside attorneys and internal clients. Directs cases through litigation cycle, reviews new files for coverage and liability issues, and develops a cost-effective defense strategy. Consults with witnesses and management as directed to investigate and resolve issues, and negotiate settlements. Interacts with opposing counsel. Assignments may include civil litigation, internal or government investigations, charges, and other legal matters as assigned. Duties will include defensive and affirmative discovery work and working with litigation technology for matter management, billing, budgeting, and discovery purposes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Functions as an in-house litigation attorney; Maintains relationship with external law firms, interprets legal documents and decisions, may investigate and represent the company at mediations and certain arbitrations or hearings; Provides general assistance and legal advice to management, at all levels, on litigation matters and risks. Acts as a liaison to external law firms handling litigation cases or pre-litigation matters. Close interaction with business clients. Adhere to all company policies and procedures. Adherence to and compliance with information systems security is everyone s responsibility. It is the responsibility of every computer user to: Know and follow Information Systems security policies and procedures. Attend Information Systems security training, when offered. Report information systems security problems. Mentor employees, conduct performance evaluations, counsel and provide disciplinary actions to assigned personnel, and works to facilitate individual and team development that drives positive results. Champion affirmative action efforts in all aspects of employment, including but not limited to staffing, training, promotion, etc. Responsible for compliance with and enforcement of company/department policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.

The candidate must be a graduate of an accredited law school and be admitted to a state bar, with eligibility to be licensed as in-house counsel in the applicable state as determined by the Company. Requires a JD degree from an accredited law school. Should have Current Bar admission to one state as well as eligibility for in-house/single-client to state designated by Company. Should have 3 years of experience as a practicing attorney, including negotiating with opposing counsel, plus other work experience in a professional working environment. Healthcare, consumer/debt collection, and employment law experience are a plus Should have excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills. Strong analytic and advocacy skills required.
