Claims Counsel/Manager - Risk and Insurance Management Principal II

Claims Counsel/Manager - Risk and Insurance Management Principal II The candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and direction for certain complex Risk and Insurance Management functions, worldwide. Will be responsible for establishing overall performance standards and managing to successful outcomes for the function. Maintains a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency. Directly manages highly complex claims and litigation. Provides legal advice for management of claims and litigation against the Company. Develops and leads implementation of strategic business initiatives or programs. Partners with business leaders and/or management of other corporate departments to develop and implement risk management programs. Represents department with senior management on complex risk and insurance management matters. Serves as representative of the Company in highly complex litigation/claims related legal issues including mediation, arbitration, and other settlement conferences with outside claimants, attorneys, judges/mediators and/or insurers. Within respective area of responsibility or specialization, evaluates the impact of changes in the law and assesses the impact to management of claims and litigation against the Company. The candidate should have Active State Bar membership and 2+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: legal counsel, corporate risk management, risk management consulting, property/casualty insurance company, insurance brokerage environment. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills is preferred. Risk management experience is desired. 2+ years claims program management experience is desired. 2+ years experience in insurance coverage legal environment is preferred. Demonstrable knowledge of risk management, financial institutions and litigation/claims with specific emphasis on the law and legal concepts and theories is preferred. ACM certification is desired.
