Vice President, Associate General Counsel - Head of Litigation The candidate reporting into company s Chief Legal Officer, the Head of Litigation (VP, Associate General Counsel) is responsible for all non-employment litigation for company s operations in the United States, including Commercial litigation, General and Professional Liability litigation, Government investigations and internal investigations. Manage a complex, diverse portfolio of litigation and investigation matters. Provide leadership and supervisory responsibility for a large group of high-performing attorneys and legal professionals. Manage budget preparation, budget management, setting team goals, and planning for future support needs. Consult with and advise the Chief Legal Officer of company and senior management, maintaining oversight responsibility in law-related areas of significant company-wide impact, as well as direct involvement in policy matters. Juggle and successfully prioritize competing work streams. Lead special projects or initiatives as assigned by the Chief Legal Officer. Coordinate with other legal groups on regulatory, compliance and operational issues. Manage outside counsel, including leading fee negotiations and developing and managing budget. Work collaboratively with a broad range of people to develop and maintain strong working relationships between legal, finance, people services, operations and business development teams and facilitate a team based approach. The candidate should have J.D. Degree with 15+ years of relevant work experience with a portion of this time spent in a law firm, government office, or in the healthcare, medical device or pharmaceutical industries. Preference for experience with government experience such as Department of Justice. Must have proven track record of working with diverse client groups and teams to achieve desired outcome. State Bar Admission and good standing is required. Should have ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels in all businesses and the ability to deliver presentations to large and small groups of people. Must have substantial knowledge and experience in health care, and preferably integrated care. Should have strong research and analytical skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel is needed. Should have ability to supervise and develop other lawyers, both on-site and remotely. Must have superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with an acute ability to listen attentively and to communicate effectively throughout all levels of the organization.
