Information about Agilent is available at ***The Counsel, Employment Law works closely with Agilent's Human Resources organization, Legal colleagues, and other functions to manage employment and commercial litigation, agency investigations as well as provide strategic labor and employment advice in the Americas. The position reports directly to the Senior Counsel, Americas Employment Law and is located at the Company's global headquarters in Santa Clara, California. Responsibilities: Provide legal advice to Human Resources and company leaders on highly sensitive employment matters, drive internal employee investigations, review Human Resources policies to ensure compliance, review the content and rollout of mandatory employment-law related training, and manage and leverage outside counsel for minimum cost and maximum output and impact. Identify and educate key stakeholders on trends relating to the Human Resources function and proactively work with business and leaders on addressing areas of risk and concern. Actively manage and provide strategic guidance on employment and commercial litigation, and government agency investigations. Monitor state and federal employment legislation and governmental agency enforcement priorities and advise of developments that may affect the organization Assist in the preparation and presentation of legal training to Human Resources and business leaders Other duties as assigned Travel Required Occasional Secondary Locations Duration Not applicable Region Americas Requirements Minimum Qualifications JD from accredited law school and active California state bar license required Minimum 10+ years' legal experience focused in employment law and litigation, with significant time devoted to employment law advice and counseling; combined law firm and in-house experience with a major corporation strongly preferred Broad experience providing advice regarding recruitment, hiring, wage-and-hour laws, employee relations, compensation, contingent workers, discipline and discharge, leaves and reasonable accommodations, discrimination and harassment, investigations, reductions-in-force, and overall compliance with employment laws and regulations Successful experience managing and resolving complex employment litigation matters, resolving federal and state agency actions, developing employee training programs, and advising and overseeing a variety of employment audits An agile and flexible thinker, with the ability to quickly learn about Agilent and its businesses An adept communicator, capable of distilling complex information into concise summaries supporting thoughtful, well-reasoned recommendations Demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional service to business clients Demonstrated judgment and ability to analyze problems, propose solutions, and provide advice that is creative, practical and reflects strong legal acumen Creative problem solver with strong organizational and time management skills Demonstrated ability to work under high pressure conditions and to successfully handle urgent situations with patience and diplomacy Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage a variety of assignments and prioritize activities in a fast-paced, demanding environment Demonstrated accountability and keen ability to meet aggressive deadlines A resourceful self-starter, results and success-oriented, with the ability to ensure timely follow-through by company employees Ability to build credibility quickly and provide strong legal support for complex and challenging business opportunities while positively and successfully managing relationships within diverse groups of stakeholders A commitment to personal and professional growth, and receptivity to feedback Ability to issue spot and drive results while working well with others in a collaborative culture Fun to work with coupled with a well-developed sense of humor Preferred Skills Experience working in an in-house legal department International employment law experience Strong interpersonal skills and customer service orientation Strong team player with the ability to adapt and work well with a variety of personalities Superior written and verbal communication skills Strong project management skills Ability to craft a persuasive PowerPoint and efficiently and effectively present to colleagues and business partners Ability to manage highly sensitive information with complete confidentiality Good instincts and proactive mindset and approach to issues High integrity and ethics Team player yet can work independently, confident, proactive, high EQ Bonus - Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese or French is an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
