Job overview and responsibilities The successful candidate will provide legal counsel and advice on a broad array of government contracts matters, regularly to business clients without extensive government contracts experience. The position will report to the Associate General Counsel Commercial and work collaboratively with other in-house counsel and various business partners. Work with the senior Legal Department leadership as well as United management on all aspects of government contracts Interact with various government agencies on all aspects of government contracts Oversee United s compliance with relevant government procurement laws, regulations and requirements Counsel relevant internal business clients as they negotiate government contracts Negotiate legal terms with government attorneys Counsel relevant internal business clients on compliance with government procurement laws, regulations and requirements Provide training to internal business clients on compliance with government contract and procurement laws, regulations and requirements Supervise and manage outside counsel in providing legal advice on government contracts matters INDUAL Required Minimum five (5) years experience advising on government contracts and procurement matters Bachelor s Degree and Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school Member in good standing of the bar in any jurisdiction of the United States and authorized to practice law in-house for United in Illinois Experience in analysis, drafting and negotiation of government contracts and subcontracts Experience in identifying risks in government contracting and providing subsequent mitigation strategies Ability to provide timely, clear, accurate and thorough advice to business clients on government contracts issues Ability to prepare and present government contract training to various stakeholders throughout United Ability to review, analyze and comment on government contract legislation and regulations Ability to achieve credibility and develop strong working relationships with colleagues and business clients Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high profile environment Work well in cross-functional team settings Demonstrate attention to detail Excellent communication and advocacy skills Possess strong belief in a culture of compliance with high integrity Possess excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities Ability to work with all levels of employees and a high level of emotional intelligence are key Knowledge of, and experience with, relevant aspects of U.S. government contracts laws and regulations, including the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs), United States Transportation Command Acquisition Regulation Supplement (TRANSFARS) and the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) Experience with federal procurement law and processes Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position Preferred Experience as in-house counsel overseeing a government contracts compliance program Some experience with state and local procurement laws and regulations Experience supporting government contracts in a non-government contracts environment/in-house setting INDUAL Equal Opportunity Employer Minorities/Women/Veterans/Disabled/LGBT Apply Now
