Assistant General Counsel - Claims & Litigation The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of Company s claims, litigation and legal compliance matters. Supervises staff of attorneys and litigation managers responsible for day-to-day oversight of claims and litigation, and directly manages Company s significant litigation. Assists and advises business units and Senior Business Counsel with respect to commercial, contract, product liability, environmental and other litigation matters. Serves as the Company s primary resource for consumer products safety matters. Manages internal team and external national coordinating council with respect to toxic tort and related insurance coverage matters. Responsible for communication with business unit and Corporate management, Accounting, Risk Management and HR personnel regarding the same. Works with Accounting and Risk Management to establish appropriate reserves on a quarterly and annual basis. Performs other tasks and projects as called upon by the General Counsel. Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the legal field. Relies on expertise and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks and works under limited supervision. An extensive degree of creativity and latitude is required. Manage Company s claims and litigation portfolio for cost effective and positive resolution, including making appropriate use of internal and external resources. Manage litigation and arbitration, including advising on litigation strategy, risk mitigation, settlement options, and management of outside counsel. Manage insurance coverage, disbursement and collections in connection with litigation matters. Engage outside counsel, expert witnesses and other third party providers and manage legal fees, budgets and expenses. Counsel management on litigation avoidance strategies. Participate in M&A due diligence. Oversee staff of attorneys, claims managers, and paralegals conducting litigation management. Stays abreast of laws and regulations through professional journals and websites, and outside professional resources. All other duties as assigned.

The candidate should have Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited U.S. law school, with a strong academic background. Licensed in good standing to practice law in at least one U.S. state. Must have 10+ years of experience in broad-based civil litigation. Experience with a broad range of litigation matters, including toxic tort (asbestos) and products liability matters required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including both verbal and written communications essential. Ability to implement strategic thinking on individual cases and across the broader company litigation portfolio. Ability to budget and manage professional fees and expenses. Ability to manage a team of professionals in a fast paced and demanding environment. Exhibit a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy.
