Senior Managing Counsel, Franchise, Public Policy, Compliance and New Customer Types The candidate will have overall responsibility for providing legal expertise and guidance supporting the following business units which are based both in the center and across the five company regions: Franchise Core; Franchise Innovation; Franchise Customer Engagement and Performance; Franchise Dispute Resolution Management; Franchise Architecture and Standards. This role will jointly report into the General Counsel, Global Businesses and the Chief Franchise Officer. As a member of the Franchise Management Team, this leader will have full accountability for supporting healthy business growth by detecting, preventing and remediating undue risk. The candidate must demonstrate sound business and legal judgement, thrive in a fast-paced environment, with a diverse workload, and have a proven track record of providing pragmatic and proactive legal advice. In addition this role will also provide legal support to Public Policy, Compliance and new customer types, primarily corporations, governments and merchants. The majority of support will be for the Franchise organization. Duties: Serving as the Franchise liaison in working with legal colleagues throughout the company (e.g. product, sales, regulatory, litigation, etc.); Ensure strong communication/collaboration with Regional Counsel teams; Guidance around MA s standards/requirements (e.g. rules interpretation/compliance, modifications to existing rules, creation of new rules, etc.); Ensuring alignment in terms of the applicability of the standards relative to the business models of customers and other stakeholders; Understanding the effects of regulation on our Franchise and how the rules have evolved to manage the effects while maintaining a globally interoperable system. Providing legal support for customer compliance enforcement actions. Work with Franchise Regional Leads in providing guidance for defining standards, requirements and outcomes and ensure regional/global strategic alignment of new and existing rules and strategies to drive long-term business growth and preserve the value and integrity of company's brand. Guidance for addressing subpoenas, referrals and requests coming from law enforcement, regulatory agencies and other government entities. Support efforts to effectively manage account data compromise events including subpoenas, appeals of ADC cases and litigation or litigation prevention. Support for the licensing/customer onboarding process includes legal management of the licensing agreement and supporting documentation. Support for Franchise s ancillary management programs such as Service Provider Registration, Prepaid Program Approval, Card Design Approval and others. Guidance for addressing new payment/data flows from a Franchise management perspective (i.e. licensing, standards, dispute resolution management, etc.). Represent Franchise on applicable internal steercos, committees, working groups, etc. As lead lawyer for other groups within Law and Franchise Integrity, provide some legal support to Public Policy, Compliance and new customer types. The candidate should have law degree from a top-tier university. Must have professional experience in general commercial legal matters in a reputable international law firm and/or as in-house lawyer for a multinational company, preferably in the financial services, banking or technology sector; Experience/knowledge of franchise management and operations a plus. ust demonstrate strong leadership skills. Must have a strategic mindset and be able to effectively discuss with and advise executive level management regarding complex legal matters and challenging situations.
