VP & Assitant Gen Counsel, Litigation & Employment The candidate will have accountability for overseeing and leading a team of lawyers and paralegals who are responsible for the day-to-day management and resolution of the Company's litigation and outside counsel relationships, negotiating the resolution of claims and disputes involving the Company and its current and former employees, customers, suppliers, competitors and other parties, conducting internal investigations and compliance reviews and providing advice, legal counsel and training with respect to employment law, environmental, employee relations, health, welfare and retirement benefits, compensation, sales plan provisions, labor relations and risk management. Supervise, lead and develop a team of experienced, high performing litigation and paralegal professionals responsible for managing and resolving all of the Company's employment litigation matters, including class actions and disputes, with assistance of external litigation counsel. Provides advice and counsel on all employment law and immigration matters, from front line to C-suite. Collaborates with the Human Resources department in addressing all legal issues relating to the Company's human capital. Provides advice and counsel on environmental, commercial, restrictive covenant and risk management matters. Collaborates with the business leaders responsible for those business functions. Investigates and participates in the resolution of employment-related issues ensuring consistent application of the Company's policies. Develops strategies and executes tactical plans to respond to union organizing campaigns and in connection with the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements. In collaboration with the Accounting function, assesses company's exposure in various litigation and employment matters and recommends appropriate reserves to address contingent liabilities in accordance with company accounting policies. Manages a multi-million dollar budget related to legal fees and expenses arising from the retention of external counsel for all litigation and other matters. Evaluates the legal services market and conducts competitive procurement activities periodically to ensure the Company continues to retain the most cost-efficient external legal resources available. Selects and negotiates the terms and conditions applicable to the engagement of external counsel.

The candidate requires a minimum of 10 years of experience at a large law firm and/or the law department of a major corporation; requires knowledge of and experience in employment law and litigation. Requires progressive experience in litigation and employment law. Must have degree from a reputable, accredited law school and admission to the bar of at least one state.
