US Tax Counsel - Assistant Vice President

US Tax Counsel - Assistant Vice President The candidate will be responsible for supporting the investment professionals, mainly in New York and Denver, in the tax due diligence and tax structuring aspects across Partners Group's business lines (Private Equity / Private Real Estate / Private Infrastructure and Private Debt) on direct and fund investments. This includes close interaction with the commercial teams and coordination of the external tax advisors. Monitoring existing investments in relation to their tax efficiency (e.g. anticipate and react to legislative changes) and pro-actively design and suggest alternatives where required. Supporting the Global Head of Investment Tax Services in strategic tax projects. Supporting our wider teams (e.g. Transaction Services, Tax Operations, Client Solutions and Structuring Services etc.) on U.S. and international tax matters. The candidate should have an in-depth understanding of U.S. and international tax as well as the dynamics of M&A transactions. Key attributes will include: 7 to 10 years of relevant professional experience in U.S. and international tax law; as an in-house tax counsel at a private equity firm / asset manager or in an M&A related tax advisory role within an international accounting or law firm, experience in tax operations being a plus.Detail oriented with excellent analytical, communication and project management skills is needed. Should have top academic credentials; BA in finance or accounting or a JD in law. Should be Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and / or an advanced degree (e.g. Masters of Accounting, MBA, L.L.M., etc.). Should have proficiency in Microsoft Office, in particular Excel and PowerPoint. Foreign languages are a plus.
