Assistant General Counsel Litigation and HR And Chief Privacy Officer The candidate will proactively providing advice and counsel on employment law issues, including business restructuring, employment policy development and application, worker classification, workforce management, discrimination and harassment claims, and wage-and-hour and workplace safety. Will also manage and drive litigation cases from complaint to conclusions, including initiating and managing litigation holds, investigations of offensive and defensive claims and the discovery process, including supervision and use of external litigation counsel. Also has accountability as the Chief Privacy Officer for firm's to oversee all ongoing activities related to firm's Global Privacy Program. Have accountability across firm's for the development, implementation, and maintenance of firm's Global Privacy Program. This includes adherence to the company s policies and procedures covering the privacy of, access to, and use of information in compliance with state, federal and international laws and the company s information governance practices. Partner with functional area leadership to ensure business discussions and decisions encompass and consistently take into consideration appropriate ethics and compliance elements, such as privacy, and that there is clear business ownership of ethics in all decisions taken. Additionally, influence leadership through effective communication of external environment and internal policies/standards related to privacy. Also work with the Regional Ethics and Compliance Advisors and the Local Ethics and Compliance Professionals to carry out these accountabilities and responsibilities. Represent firm's externally as required in various Ethics and Compliance and Privacy external forums, including industry and trade association meetings, regulator interactions and discussions, standards bodies, and academia meetings. Provides business-oriented leadership, strategic advice, proactive and effective day-to-day legal support and counsel at all levels of the business on a wide variety of legal issues while ensuring strategies, programs, policies, practices and initiatives comply with laws. Handles complex and sensitive assignments; recommends effective strategies and tactics; advises on legal rights, obligations and privileges. Makes recommendations to management in making important decisions in relation to legal ramifications. Member of and participates in various firm's business teams/committees where responsible for advising on legal and business issues. Develops policies and procedures for the Legal function. Advises on legal aspects of Company s Ethics and Compliance policies, programs and procedures. Provides training to management and business groups on relevant/new legal topics and issues. Provides strategic direction in handling litigation cases from complaint to conclusions, including supervision and use of external litigation counsel Accountable for firm's Global Privacy Program to include development, implementation, and maintenance. This includes adherence to the company s policies and procedures covering the privacy of, access to, and use of information in compliance with state, federal and international laws and the company s information governance practices. This requires coordination with functional business partners, Regional Ethics and Compliance Advisors, Local Ethics and Compliance Professionals, management, the firm's Leadership Team, and legal counsel. Serve as the Data Protection Officer for firm's as it relates to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe. Drive effective implementation of the privacy program through the business. Work with business partners, Regional Ethics and Compliance Advisors, and Local Ethics and Compliance Professionals to ensure that firm's privacy requirements are considered and built into key business programs and activities. Oversight of assessment of the company s access to, acquisition, use, and sharing of, information critical to the company s mission and objectives related to tailored therapeutics. Provides expertise, guidance, and support to functional business partners, Regional Ethics and Compliance Advisors, and Local Ethics and Compliance Professionals. Conducts privacy impact assessment reviews for new privacy related projects and provides guidance to business partners regarding actions to be implemented. Directs initial and periodic privacy risk assessments to analyze and identify privacy program and business risks (self-assessments and/or data mapping exercises). Work with functional leaders, Regional Ethics and Compliance Advisors, and Local Ethics and Compliance Professionals to implement an effective privacy monitoring program and compliance assessment activities. Additionally, assists in coordination of related ongoing compliance monitoring activities with Corporate Audit and other quality assurance functions. Oversees and directs privacy communications and training and orientation to all employees and relevant third parties. Facilitates and promotes activities to foster information privacy awareness within the organization and related entities. Provide privacy guidance when required to business development initiatives. Oversees responses to all inquiries related to global privacy policies and procedures and directs all responses to all complaints and issues/breaches concerning the company s privacy policies and procedures in coordination and collaboration with Regional Ethics and Compliance Advisors, Local Ethics and Compliance Professionals, and legal counsel. Ensures compliance with privacy practices and consistent application of sanctions for failure to comply with privacy policies for all individuals in the company s workforce, in cooperation with Human Resources, Compliance, and legal counsel as applicable. Oversees privacy program involvement with external forums, including industry and trade association meetings, regulator interactions and discussions, standards bodies, and academia meetings as well as outside counsel in order to anticipate changes to the external environment that impact the company s information interests; includes oversight of work with company s management, legal counsel, corporate affairs and other related parties to represent the organization s information governance and privacy interests with external parties (state, federal and other country government bodies).

The candidate should have J.D. Degree. Must have 4 years of experience and demonstrated expertise in providing legal counsel on employment law and litigation with a major corporation or law firm. Must have 4 years experience on privacy matters. Must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Experience within the animal health, pharmaceutical, or related industry is preferred. Experience as Chief Privacy Officer is preferred. Previous in-house experience on a global basis plus. Deadline : 10-April-2019.
