Director, Global Privacy Counsel The candidate will lead firms worldwide privacy program, and to provide advice and counsel to firms management and staff on privacy-related issues involving firms consumers and customers, its products and software. Will provide advice and counsel to firm businesses on privacy, and related data protection issues, allowing firm to both innovate and meet the challenges of global data protection policies and laws. Provide advice and counsel to firm businesses on the privacy implications of firm product designs/features/functions, software/applications, interactive experiences and other product and non-product specific issues. Provide advice and counsel to businesses on the privacy implications of information collection/handling/use/retention activities, supplier and partner relationships and other areas. Review and draft contract provisions, templates and related solutions in order to achieve strong levels of privacy and security. Support firms commercial contracts, sales and procurement organizations by negotiating data protection provisions in supplier, partner and sales agreements. Develop, apply and enforce firm privacy and related data protection policies, standards, guidelines and best practices. Lead firms activities to meet the requirements of an FTC consent order, and other legal and regulatory obligations. Draft firm privacy and related data protection policies. Develop and conduct training and awareness programs related to privacy and data protection issues. Manage privacy and related data protection disputes and incidents and, as needed, government investigations/inquiries. The candidate should have a JD degree from a top-tier law school along with excellent academic credentials. A thorough understanding of privacy laws and regulations, including in-depth knowledge of U.S. and global laws that apply to technology products, software and related areas essential. Must have 8+ years of experience involving the creation and implementation of privacy and/or related international and domestic data protection policies and compliance efforts. Should have 8+ years of experience in managing privacy and related data protection compliance issues for large consumer focused multinational companies. Familiarity with the technical workings of hardware, software and applications, Internet/Intranet, databases, related information technology applications/techniques and the privacy, information security and related data protection considerations they implicate needed. Familiarity with regulatory consent orders/settlements compliance and remediation efforts essential.
