Senior Counsel/VP, Global Deputy Chief Compliance Officer (LA) The candidate will serve as the advisory compliance officer for firm business units, including NBC Entertainment and Film. Will reports to the Chief Compliance Officer and requires close collaboration with compliance officers in New York, London, and Miami. Develop, maintain, and revise policies and procedures for the general operation of firms compliance activities. Conduct comprehensive business risk assessment for domestic business units to identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develop/implement risk mitigation and corrective action plans for areas of heightened risk or problematic issues, and provide guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future. Provide sound, practical legal/regulatory advice to internal clients, including senior business leaders and employees at all levels, regarding compliance with applicable laws and company policies. Ensure that red flags, complaints and alleged violations of law, rules, regulations, policies and procedures are being appropriately identified, evaluated, investigated and resolved in a timely and effective manner. Recommend the initiation of investigative procedures; collaborate with other appropriate departments (e.g., Litigation, Employment Law, Internal Audit, Human Resources, Security, etc.) to direct compliance issues to appropriate channels for thorough and timely investigation and resolution; and conduct and oversee investigations of alleged policy violations. Coordinate with compliance officers in New York, London, and Miami and other stakeholders to institute and maintain an effective compliance training and communication program for the organization, including promoting compliance tone at the top, heightening awareness among employees of compliance risks and policies and aligning and educating organizations regarding current and emerging risks and trends. Lead in-person training sessions, teleconferences and webinars for domestic business units to foster increased understanding and heightened awareness of various compliance risks, covering various key risk areas. Anticipate and understand changing business models and develop corresponding processes to ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Partner with Comcast compliance function and other key stakeholders on enterprise-wide compliance initiatives, including the development and implementation of the code of conduct, annual compliance risk assessment program and employee complaint handling procedures, and enact these initiatives with respect to firm . Benchmark compliance program against programs of other respected companies; work with key thought leaders in the area of compliance to promote best practices. Act as a senior member of the NBC Universal Compliance team in a positive, proactive and innovative manner. The candidate should have law degree from an ABA-accredited law school is required and must be a member in good standing of the State Bar of New York or member in good standing of another State Bar and registered as in-house counsel. Should have 8+ years of legal experience, including in-house compliance experience, service in a top tier law firm and/or relevant government position having built and overseen a department of attorneys and professionals for Sr. Counsel level and 12 years for VP level; experience leading or being a senior member of a robust compliance function. In-depth knowledge of compliance mandates and regulatory bodies critical to a publicly-traded, global company is essential. Experience working with government and regulatory agency officials, specifically with attorneys and lawyers in the regulatory agencies is essential. Knowledge of operational, financial, quality assurance and human resource procedures including experience with compliance training and internal communications is essential.
