Employment Counselor

Employment Counselor The candidate will day to day counseling on employment issues; Answer questions from HR and Talent Acquisition; Candidate application issues; Review candidate restrictive covenants; Candidate offer letters negotiations; Employee performance issues; Employment termination issues; Develop and conduct trainings for HR teams on employment issues such as FLSA, ADA, I-9s, etc. Assist with ADA reasonable accommodation/disability requests. Keep pulse on employment issues company-wide to identify trends/issues that may be improved with training. Conduct internal investigations. Assist with drafting separation agreements as needed. Liaise with contract managers and assist with Independent Contractor Agreement reviews/negotiations and improve employee vs. independent contractor classification process. Assist with renewing Affirmative Action Plan for our government contractor subsidiary. Assist HR and outside immigration counsel on immigration matters. Monitor employment law changes/other. Ensure that offer letters and employment practices (e.g., final paycheck timing) are in line with state law. Ensure Employee Handbooks/policies are updated any time a new state law changes our current practices/policies. Assist with employment diligence on deals. Assist with organizing and understanding employment landscape of new countries we re expanding into. Liaise with local counsel on employment issues that arise in countries where we re already established. GDPR compliance in employment context.

The candidate must have high degree of initiative and critical-thinking skills in exercising independent judgment in managing multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, detail-oriented work environment. Excellent troubleshooting, proactive problem resolution and follow-through skills are essential. Excellent writing, analytical and client skills required. Must have 5-7 years experience as an Employment Attorney in a corporate setting. JD Degree required with admission to at least one US State Bar.
