Litigation and Compliance Attorney The candidate will be responsible for managing and resolving litigation matters and pre-litigation disputes. Working with and managing outside counsel when required. Coordinating responses to discovery and other information requests. With supervision when required, to handle litigation matters and pre-litigation disputes across a variety of substantive areas (such as commercial litigation, consumer complaints, regulatory inquiries, and third-party subpoenas). Work with some independence, having direct client contact, and also will work with outside counsel when required. Assist with all stages of disputes/litigation, including case assessment, fact development, strategy development, discovery, court papers, settlement negotiations, arbitration, and trial. May be called upon to assist other members of the Legal Department with general corporate legal matters.

The candidate should have 3+ years of experience as a litigator to handle default related litigation cases. Should have excellent writing and interpersonal skills and experience practicing in state and federal courts. Frequent court appearances are necessary and a desire to handle trial work is essential. Should have a working knowledge of civil procedure, motion practice and discovery practice. Admission to the Massachusetts Bar or any state that is admissible in MA required. Should have practice in litigation and dispute resolution; electronic discovery. J.D. degree is required. 1-3 years experience in a law firm or in-house, with general exposure/experience in litigation is preferred. Should have excellent judgment, knowing when to escalate issues to the supervising attorney. Must be capable of understanding the business of each internal client and willing to self-educate and adapt to changing needs of his/her respective clients businesses. Should have competency in litigation skills, preferably across a range of subject matters, including commercial litigation. Must have strong computer skills and familiarity with electronic discovery processes. Law firm or in-house experience is preferred.
