Senior Attorney - Real Estate Lending The candidate will be responsible for providing expert legal counsel to Senior Leaders including Executive Counsel for an operating area or staff agency within firm. Responds to needs of the business unit by identifying and analyzing complex and unique legal issues and provide resolution for these legal matters. Ensures the company's activities are conducted in compliance with applicable laws. Responsible for identifying and managing legal risk in association with firm's Risk Appetite and provide strategic direction. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Works independently on matters of significance to the organization and has in-depth, expert knowledge in specific type of law, and/or the proven ability to lead teams to resolve complex issues. May work with outside counsel. Must have experience in the following areas: Independently providing legal counsel to manage and proactively address legal and regulatory risk in the real estate lending areas of Federal Savings Bank; Providing legal advice to the real estate lending origination and servicing initiatives, program expansion and state regulatory matters; Providing legal support for examinations, regulatory inquiries, issues management, remediation projects and Board level reporting; Assisting on a project basis with supporting 1st and 2nd Line of Defense to implement consumer, real estate and fair lending laws and regulations. Must have JD from an accredited law school. Should have 7+ years experience practicing law interpreting the Truth-in-Lending Act (TILA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Fair Housing Act (FHA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the state laws governing origination and servicing of real estate secured loans. Must have experience interacting with regulatory agencies, 1st and 2nd Line of Defense and Board level reporting functions. Should be Admitted to and an active member in good standing of the Bar in at least one state or territory.
