Corporate Counsel - Privacy and Data Security The candidate will be a member of firm's Law Department in the Global Legal Compliance group and will provide legal support for the Companys Global Privacy and Data Security Governance program. Will help support the Companys Legal and Ethical Compliance program, which includes the following key compliance risk areas: anti-corruption and anti-bribery, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and the UK Bribery Act. Office of Foreign Assets Control and economic sanctions laws. and other critical areas as designated from time-to-time by the General Counsel and the Global Compliance Counsel. Work closely with internal business partners to understand their business processes, applications, projects and technologies to ensure compliance with privacy laws and embed privacy and data security requirements and controls into projects, products and services. Work to ensure the organization maintains appropriate privacy and data security policies, notices, standards, controls and other practices and processes cross-functionally and as a part of global operations. Support efforts to ensure that the company complies with cross-border data transfer restrictions and data localization requirements with respect to both intra-company transfers and transfers to third parties. Draft, review and support negotiations regarding data privacy and data security contractual provisions in a wide variety of commercial agreements. Assist the Incident Response Team in the review and coordination of potential privacy or data security incidents, including investigations, notifications, and other resolution efforts. Develop, review and deliver (or arrange for the development and delivery of) privacy training materials as appropriate and support efforts to raise awareness about the companys privacy and data security program, data handling practices, procedures and legal obligations.Conduct, guide and participate in legal risk assessments. develop risk mitigation plans and make recommendations on the appropriate financial investment to accomplish the policies and implement the procedures. Monitor current and evolving statutes, regulations, and case law and help to identify legal issues of critical importance to the company. Maintain strong coordination, cooperation and mutual support between the Law Department and other corporate departments with compliance obligations such as the Internal Audit Department, Department of Investigations, iT, Brand, Marketing, Sales and Consumer Services department, the Corporate Secretarys Office, Communication and Government Affairs, Human Resources, the Continents Privacy Committees and Legal and Ethical Compliance Councils (LECCs), and the Finance organization to ensure that roles and responsibilities are effectively fulfilled in the companys global privacy and data security governance program and legal and ethical compliance program and. Monitor and assess the effectiveness of compliance activity and facilitate auditing. Respond to government investigations or queries as appropriate and/or required. The candidate must have excellent academic records with a law degree from a top law school. Must have Admission to the Bar of a US state. Must have 7 years experience in privacy, data security or litigation. Experience interfacing with government agencies in compliance inquiries. administrative or judicial litigation experience a plus. Must have broad background in providing advice and counsel to operating business managers on legal and ethical compliance matters with a focus on individual integrity and principled business conduct.
