Junior Privacy Counsel

Returning Applicants The candidate serve as legal subject matter expert and counselor regarding GDPR, providing advice to clients including Operations, IT, Marketing, Procurement, HR and other functions. Partner with the EU Privacy Counsels to ensure that local RoPA are kept up to date, assist with preparation of appropriate risk assessments (DPA, DPIA, etc.), develop and review policies, procedures, standards and controls to meet existing or future GDPR requirements. Support the further strategic development and positioning of the DPO Office within the EU company system. Support review of EU and local business processes and supporting systems and provide guidance with respect to documenting these processes, implementing Privacy by Design principles, Privacy Policies and Privacy Notices. Under the direction of the DPO office, partner with IT and Strategic Security to respond to potential data privacy breach incidents and mitigate risks related to same. Closely work with the global company system to optimize existing privacy breach incident procedures and adapt them to GDPR requirements. Monitor relevant legislation and regulation over the various jurisdictions in Europe; assess impact to the company and partner with relevant functions and business partners to coordinate responses and/or implementation strategies. Assist in the development and provide training and education to the business related to GDPR as well as other company's privacy and data security policies and programs. Provide best-in-class GDPR recommendations that are integrated with client strategies and objectives and coordinated across all relevant jurisdictions. Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholder groups. Performs a variety of legal activities in accordance with the established standards and provides advice to the company in less complex legal aspects e.g. trade, labor and corporate issues. Prepares and/or reviews contracts and other documents to ensure legal compliance. Researches and interprets case law, court reports and proposed/existing regulations to prepare technical reports on how they impact the organization's operations. Liaises with external functional or operational area specialists. Individual contributor representing the most common entry point for this career stream; works under direct supervision. The candidate should have law degree in an EU country. Specific education and/or experience in data privacy/GDPR strongly preferred. Must have 3-5 years practicing as an attorney either in a company or a lawfirm, including significant experience related to data privacy or security. Additional education/training/experience in IT, digital marketing, or data security preferred. Must have ability to work effectively in cross-functional virtual global team and positively influence individuals outside of your span of control. Should have ability to develop and effectively communicate sound legal advice and/or analysis, including the suggestion of alternative business solutions and best practices while taking into account the clients' role, objectives and risk tolerance. Must have ability to determine and understand client objectives and risk tolerance. Includes knowledge of methods and/or techniques used to determine to identify objectives or risk tolerance and ability to incorporate the information in making legal decisions. Should have basic knowledge of contract law. Includes knowledge of and ability to understand basic terms and concepts and draft contract provisions. Must have ability to conduct and analyze legal research to determine applicable legal principles. Knowledge of and ability to use legal research resources, including electronic research tools. Ability to draft legal memoranda. Post End Date: February 27 2019.
