Tax Attorney - Tax Subject Matter Expert The candidate will serve as a firm-wide resource for the Firm's other tax professionals regarding tax issues, particularly under Subchapters K, C and S. Promote best practices for preparation and review of tax returns. Review tax returns to identify compliance issues and opportunities for tax reduction. Coordinate and/or participate in IRS examinations of selected tax returns. Perform research and write memos related to tax issues and tax planning for the Firm's clients. Monitor Treasury Department guidance and tax legislation impacting the Firm's clients and advise the Firm's tax professionals regarding the same. Promote the Firm's image by participating on conference panels, contributing to firm publications, conducting in-house and client trainings, etc. Should have strong understanding of Subchapters K, C and S of the Internal Revenue Code, including experience with corporation formations, reorganizations, liquidations and corporate tax structuring issues. Must have experience with taxation of business entities at the state level, including nexus and apportionment issues related. Should have experience with tax accounting methods applicable to businesses. Must have excellent communications, public speaking, research and writing skills with the ability to articulate complex tax issues and position. Bachelor s degree and a JD required, LLM (tax) preferred. Must be a member of at least one state bar. Must have 5+ years of tax experience performing tax research.
