Duties: Manage data protection and cyber security, and ensure compliance with US, Canadian, provincial, and state laws. Create, manage, and ensure compliance with corporate policies. Conduct internal auditing of systems to ensure compliance with data protection and security laws and policies. Work closely with internal teams (e.g. IT, Member Services, Claims) in both North America and Europe to ensure that data is secure, and that company and member data is secure and protected. Manage response system and respond to cyber threats, potential data breaches, and similar risks to the integrity of information systems and data. Formulate and enact cyber security incident response process and post-incident response process. Learn and understand technology and forensic findings, and be able to effectively discuss such topics with technically skilled individuals and employees without technical familiarity. Advising on day-to-day data protection and cyber security issues. Maintain, update, and ensure compliance with Privacy Policy. Maintain, update, and ensure compliance with privacy disclosures on websites, app, and through other digital channels. Work closely with internal teams in North America and Europe to ensure that member data is recorded, maintained, and released only when appropriate or with the required documentation. Respond to requests from or complaints to federal, provincial, and/or state inquiries from governmental and/or consumer entities, agencies, or commissions. Ensure that any digital assets created by the company, or emails sent to members, comply with applicable privacy laws. Advise on day-to-day privacy issues. Serve as subject matter expert and primary point of contact for the global and North America product team as concerning developments and future strategies concerning technology, the vehicles and onboard equipment, the app, and the website. Provide high level advice to product team, including risk assessments, as concerning future product developments, and, work with team throughout lifecycle of the project. Update and draft supplemental terms and conditions. Provide and implement a standardization process and/or workflow for product team to follow when obtaining legal advice on product/technology topics. Develop and maintain a legal FAQ document for the product team. Monitor and share legal developments in data protection, privacy, and advertising laws across the company, and provide training and/or recommended course of action, if necessary, to ensure compliance. Work collaboratively across divisions to identify, develop, and share best practices. Ensure compliance with annual operating budget by, among other things, containing and effectively managing outside counsel legal fees and costs for responsible areas of law. Other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: JD from an accredited law school. Top 20% of graduating class preferred. Current membership in the Texas State Bar. 2+ years of experience in legal representation of businesses on data protection, privacy, technology issues, technology law. Must also have experience in the following areas: Data protection, privacy, and/or technology law, Advising businesses, Working closely and collaboratively with IT, IS, and technology professionals, Applicable case law and statutes, The transportation ecosystem and competitors. Judicial clerkship or experience on law review or moot court preferred. Must be a business-savvy attorney who is detail oriented and works with the business to find solutions to complex challenges. Will be expected to exercise independent judgment on tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities, priorities, and deadlines. Ability to gain trust and work with all levels of an organization. Excellent oral and written communications skills, including the ability to communicate complex legal issues, topics, and risks to non-lawyers. Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and colleagues. High level of critical and analytical thinking.
