Director, Counsel -Employment Law The candidate will advises clients on a wide array of employment law issues, including recruitment and hiring, personnel classification, wage and hour issues, restrictive covenants, leaves of absence and accommodations, compensation and benefits, performance management, disciplinary actions and terminations; Collaborates with Human Resources and other departments to establish and regularly revise employment-related policies, procedures and handbooks; Develops subject-matter expertise on company policies and procedures and delivers training for managers and individual contributors on a variety of employment law topics; Investigates and helps resolve employee relations issues and complaints; Maintains current substantive knowledge and proactively updates Human Resources and other clients on relevant legislative and regulatory developments and best practices; Represents Company in governmental and agency inquiries, audits, litigation and alternative dispute proceedings, working closely with outside counsel in coordinating the Companys position and advising the Company with regard to document retention and electronic discovery obligations; Collaborate with clients at all levels, across multiple functions and geographies, and at a high level of responsiveness and customer service. The candidate must have 5-10 years of U.S. based, management-side employment law experience with a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal department; both law firm and in-house. Admitted to the bar in US MA and/or CT preferred. Project management experience a plus. Must have J.D. or L.L.M. degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
