Assistant General Counsel - Employment Counsel The candidate will be working in a global law department that has attorneys on three continents and a senior management team based in Chicago. Will provide practical advice and counseling regarding labor and employment issues including discrimination, disability accommodation, hiring, performance management, discharge/termination, wage and hour, FMLA/ADA, employee privacy, non-compete agreements, protection of trade secrets, EEOC, employee benefits, and other relevant labor and employment issues. Should have J.D. degree from a respected law school. Excellent academic credentials. Must have 8+ years of professional legal experience. Should have worked at a large law firm and preferably in house at a large global public corporation. Must have strong U.S. labor and employment background who could grow into a broader role involving both domestic and international labor and employment matters. Must have experience in discipline, counseling, and termination of employees, including determining whether severance is appropriate as well as providing written warnings and separation agreements. Must be expertise in handling misconduct issues including investigations of potential misconduct.
