Data Privacy & Technology Counsel Duties: Assist in molding an information security and compliance program Partner with and advise teams on data protection and IS legal matters. Draft, negotiate, and advise on DPAs, MSAs, SOWs, technology licenses, and other contracts and communications. Clearly present and explain contract conditions, details, risk, and mitigation to teammates across the organization. Track and ensure compliance with the GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable data privacy laws, including flow-downs. Assess outgoing SOWs to ensure all processors, sub-processors, and categories of data are accounted for. Collaborate in drafting, updating, and enforcing IS policies and guidelines for stakeholders. Assist in driving business units to incorporate privacy-by-design into products and services. Research, track, and evaluate the impact of evolving global data security and privacy laws, legal developments and industry guidelines, and translate them into practical business advice. Advise business units on proposed data uses, collection methods, categories of data subjects and proper data subject consents and disclosures. Clearly communicate with non-experts to help them understand regulations and requirements. Coordinate with IS team on incident preparedness and response. Collaborate in creating unique content for internal trainings, newsletters and webinars designed to enhance culture and comprehension of data, privacy and cybersecurity laws and topics. Advise on IP matters (copyrights, trademarks primarily). Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: JD Degree from an ABA accredited law school and active membership in Oregon Bar. 3-5 years experience in data, privacy, cybersecurity, technology and/or IP law. Experience with or knowledge of global privacy and data protection laws, regulations and standards. Proven ability to manage a diverse and complex workload while maintaining priorities and anticipating issues. Proven ability to combine sound legal judgment with emotional intelligence to create practical solutions and build trust across all departments. Excellent verbal and written skills to effectively communicate with a range of audiences and experiences. Healthy sense of humor, positive attitude, and a growth mindset. Consistent delivery on commitments. Follow-through, attention to detail, and superb organizational skills.
