Corporate Counsel, Privacy The candidate assists with implementing and maintaining the organization's privacy program, including, training and awareness activities, advising and guiding implementation of process changes, maintenance of policies and procedures, and monitoring of privacy and data-related compliance and adherence to global privacy requirements and standards. Builds strategic relationships with key stakeholders across functions and regions to understand touchpoints for data management across the organization and to help problem-solve solutions for any compliance gaps. Enables deployment of a comprehensive privacy program, including documenting and maintaining internal policies and processes, including, processing activity logs under the GDPR, completing regulatory filings, drafting notices and contract templates on privacy and data related matters, and developing internal and external privacy program guidance summaries. Assists with implementation of compliance requirements related to the GDPR and other region/country-specific privacy requirements, data protection regulations, and data transfer restrictions or requirements. Participates in conducting periodic information privacy risk assessment/analysis, mitigation and remediation and works with functional teams to develop compliance strategies based on assessment outcomes. Drives vendor assessment processes for due diligence, contracting, and audit needs in partnership with legal, procurement, and security teams as needed. Delivers training and ongoing awareness and continuous improvement efforts related to data protection, privacy, and data hygiene. Participates in the development, implementation, and ongoing compliance monitoring of all business associates and business associate agreements to enforce company privacy program standards. Facilitates and actively promotes longer term enterprise projects to address appropriate maintenance and retention practices for company data, including personal data, and engages with business teams to drive internal adoption of new practices and ways of thinking about data. Maintains current knowledge of applicable global, federal and state privacy laws and accreditation standards. Conducts information privacy related research as needed and delivers concise, accurate, and supported recommendations. Must have Law degree from an accredited law school. Should have 3+ years of active practice focused in the areas of data privacy, technology law, or compliance; or 5+ years of legal practice and demonstrated experience working in industries or areas of focus requiring enhanced regulation of data and/or data practices (i.e. financial, healthcare, audit, human resources). Experience with data privacy regulatory requirements and/or in-house experience with technology companies strongly preferred.
