Attorney - Employment & Benefits The candidate will provide legal counsel on employee benefits and executive compensation matters. Specific duties will include: Providing legal support related to the design and operation of health, welfare, disability, life, cafeteria, and wellness programs; Providing legal support related to the design and operation of defined contribution and defined benefit plans, both qualified and nonqualified; Providing legal support for HR and benefits executives for matters throughout the employee and executive lifecycle, including in matters related to new hires, in-service employees, and departing individuals; Providing legal advice in developing benefit changes and strategies; Supervising claims, disputes and litigation involving benefit plans and third party administrators; Drafting plan documentation and participant communications; Negotiating service provider agreements.

The candidate must have Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited institution. Must Admitted to state bar in good standing. 5+ years experience practicing in the area of compensation and benefits is required. Experience with health, welfare, and cafeteria plans is necessary. Experience with qualified and nonqualified plans is plus. Experience with executive compensation is required. Must be Able to work collaboratively on a solutions-focused self-directed team. Have ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization. Strong project management skill is required. 7+ years experience practicing in the area of compensation and benefits with a health and welfare focus is preferred. Knowledge of health and welfare-related benefit issues (e.g., ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, Medicare) in the context of publicly traded companies is plus. Experience representing employers before federal agencies in benefits- and compensation-related matters, including the IRS and DOL is preferred. International benefits and compensation experience is plus.
