Director, Technology, Media and Privacy Counsel The candidate will include assisting firm and Capri business units with monitoring and maintaining compliance with global privacy rules, regulations and standards, and attend to various legal compliance matters, privacy training, developing and enforcing established policies, and identifying the need for new guidance/training. Primary responsibilities will also include handling a wide variety of transactional matters for the companys business units in the areas of technology, outsourcing, service, digital, advertising, ecommerce, retail and data. Lead the companys compliance strategy with applicable local and global privacy laws and regulations, including the EU GDPR, CCPA and China Cybersecurity Law. Continue the companys integration of its brands into the companys global privacy program. Implement privacy policies, programs and strategies across US and international business units. Assist with the companys Legal Compliance Program, including compliance and ethics policy development, risk assessment, third party oversight, training, compliance program monitoring and counselling, and Code of Conduct investigations. Identify and assess compliance risks and opportunities, then work collaboratively with all stakeholders to develop and implement appropriate mitigation strategies. Draft, negotiate and review contracts for the company in a variety of areas, including technology, outsourcing, service, digital, advertising, ecommerce, retail and data. Act as the companys Privacy SME under and in close collaboration with the VP, Associate General Counsel, proactively working with internal clients to help them understand the companys privacy obligations and to identify and mitigate key privacy risks associated with the collection and handling of employee and customer personal data. Perform privacy reviews on relevant projects, initiatives, and third parties. Develop additional policies, procedures, training, and guidance to enhance the existing suite of privacy program components. Monitor changes in applicable privacy laws; prepare updates and communicate with relevant business people to keep them abreast of these developments; implement necessary changes in policies or business processes to comply with changes in laws and/or best practices. Create and perform targeted privacy trainings as well as additional privacy awareness to the broader workforce. Report on privacy metrics and key performance indicators. Respond to employee and customer privacy questions and complaints. Maintain and update employee privacy notices, data transfer and data processing agreements, and privacy declarations to data protection authorities in various jurisdictions. Maintain records of all privacy documentation, incidences of non-compliance and actions taken to redress.

The candidate must have Juris Doctorate Degree. Must have admission and member in good standing of the bar of New York. Should have 4-7+ years experience in legal practice at a large law firm, in-house legal position or both. Must have 3+ years experience in Privacy law with extensive knowledge of the global privacy landscape. Should have One or more certifications in data privacy is a nice-to-have (e.g., CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPP/C, CIPP/A, CIPT, CIPM, FIP). CIPM and or CIPP/E certifications. Should have strong knowledge of and interest in emerging technologies and devices. Technical background or experience with cloud providers is required.
