Senior Counsel - Real Estate

Senior Counsel - Real Estate The candidate will be an integral member of a team providing legal counsel and support the company utilizing global best practices. Will provide legal support and represent the company principally on state regulatory matters. Reports to the Deputy General Counsel. Provides legal leadership and counsel on local and state real estate matters relating to all phases and aspects of renewable project development; includes negotiation, drafting and review of leases, easements, and other real estate documents and title curative and related title matters; Advise senior managers and developers within the Company. Work alongside and become a trusted advisor to the business areas within the Company. Assist in the management of litigation portfolio working directly with outside counsel on development of litigation strategy and litigation budgets; Periodic reporting of litigation risks. Prepare or review and negotiate, as directed, contracts, purchase agreements, leases, transaction documents and other legal instruments to safeguard the corporations interests. Performs research and prepares and drafts necessary legal documents and correspondence. Analyzes and organizes documentary evidence and develops conclusions and makes recommendations to business areas. Supports the General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel and other in-house counsel. The candidate should have JD degree. State Bar admission in Oregon or ability to waive into Oregon Bar. Must have 5+ years of experience counseling renewable energy companies (or comparable experience in the sector) at a major law firm or as in-house counsel. Excellent oral and written communications skills, with emphasis on clear and concise writing that can be understood by employees at all levels. Superior attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to lead and manage multiple projects, work independently, and meet deadlines. Ability to obtain and analyze information from multiple sources, and to objectively develop, challenge, and verify conclusions. Ability to securely handle sensitive, confidential, and privileged information. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills required. Able to analyze complex legal issues and advise on appropriate corporate response. Strong experience with common business software tools, such as Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel).
