Contracts Counsel, Senior Duties: Part of an outstanding legal team supporting Group. Reporting to the VP, Associate General Counsel, will provide guidance and strategic counsel to management; draft, review, negotiate, and implement contracts with health plans, health care providers and other health care organizations; and provide pre-litigation dispute advice and counsel. Will be required to develop and foster relationships across the organization and provide legal support in a dynamic, fast paced environment. Supporting and working collaboratively with the national and regional contracting teams Providing legal advice on the full spectrum of plan, hospital, and provider contracting issues across the enterprise, with special emphasis on Medicare Advantage and risk contracting Work with clients to proactively identify risks and ensure appropriate risk mitigation strategies are in place. Regularly reviewing and updating best demonstrated practices ( BDPs ) and execution of process improvements to better align and anticipate changing health care reform laws and regulations, including future reimbursement programs. Drafting, reviewing, analyzing, and negotiating health plan and health care provider templates, agreements and memoranda. Conducting research on contracting issues. Serving as a subject matter expert in health plan and health care provider disputes from informal dispute resolution through arbitration and litigation. Serving as a subject matter expert, including training the organization on contracting BDPs, new and/or revisions to template agreements, new and/or revisions to reimbursement or other regulatory changes that can or will impact contracts with plans, providers and hospitals. Assisting with development of contract management processes and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS: Law degree with strong academic credentials. Must be, or eligible to be, licensed in good standing to practice law within Colorado. 5+ years of health care contracting experience, including with health plans and health care providers. Experience in the health care industry and working with physicians or physician groups. Strong preference for experience contracting with health plans and working with integrated systems. Demonstrated business acumen, including the ability to see the big picture as well as the relationship of very detailed and specific legal and business issues. Experience in positively and successfully managing relationships with a high energy, diverse group of stakeholders across highly matrixed organizational lines. A thoughtful, articulate and effective communicator who can distill and articulate the important aspects of contracting issues to a wide audience of participants. High degree of organization and efficiency with demonstrated attention to detail. Superior written and verbal communication skills (including presentations). Demonstrated accountability and keen ability to meet aggressive timeframes. Ability to build credibility quickly and provide strong legal support for complex issues and challenging business opportunities. Understand and be able to translate into plain English the legal ramifications of varied legal issues and clearly and succinctly articulate the risks. Provide valuable advice and counsel within the context of the broader business and enterprise level objectives. Help achieve thoughtful, successful and timely results for the business.
