Associate Counsel, Employment And Litigation

Associate Counsel, Employment and Litigation The candidate will work closely with General Counsel to provide legal expertise, and actively participate in the legal matters of both the firm and its portfolio companies. Will be closely involved with employment and labor matters, litigation, and reviewing vendor agreements. Independently handle all phases of employment litigation including drafting motions, court filings, discovery demands and responses. Manage cases dealing with wage & hour, payroll records, and misclassification, among others. Represent the company in lawsuits and negotiate settlements with plaintiffs. Provide counsel to employees and the company on a wide range of employment laws and regulations. Should have familiarity with federal court practice, as well as with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Department of Labor, and other federal, state and local government administrative agencies. Develop new compliance programs, propose them to the executive team for approval. Orchestrate, review, and revise contracts and legal documents. Provide support for M&A transactions, including working on deal structure and LOI terms. Assist with negotiating contracts for the firms portfolio companies. Work with the team in finding optimal resolutions in a wide spectrum of legal matters. Provide legal support to the internal team on complex business issues. Identify different methods for improved practices. Assist with succession planning of businesses and project executions. The candidate should have JD degree from an accredited law school. Must have Admission to the California State Bar. Must have 3+ years of experience practicing law. In-house experience preferred. Experience with Employment Law and Litigation is required. Experience with M&A due diligence, deal negotiation is a plus. Exceptional oral and written communication skills needed. Exceptional negotiation skills needed.
