Senior Litigation Counsel

Senior Litigation Counsel The candidate will be responsible for party litigation and amicus briefs in which firm's participates on legislative, regulatory, tort liability and other matters in support of the firm's membership. Engages outside counsel, directs the legal strategy and arguments, and reviews and edits briefs drafted by outside counsel. Identifies new litigation opportunities to strategically advance the interests of manufacturers and the manufacturing economy. Builds and manages relationships with allied groups, including building and managing litigation coalitions. Coordinates with the firm's Policy and Government Relations Department to assure compliance with firm's policy in all testimony and submissions. Publicizes and explains legal case developments to firm's members, staff, the media and the general public as appropriate. Works with members, outside counsel, and professional groups to advance the interests of manufacturers affected by litigation. Builds and manages legal programming to support and educate the firm's members.

The candidate must have J.D. from an accredited law school and membership in a state bar. Should have 6+ years legal experience, with 8-12 years preferred. Prior litigation experience in a major law firm, a federal regulatory agency, trade association, or major company is strongly preferred. Must have experience with federal and state litigation and have a firm understanding of litigation arising under the Administrative Procedure Act. Experience in any of the following legal fields is preferred. Application of labor and employment law to manufacturing companies is required. Product liability law is preferred. Class action law is preferred. Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills are essential. Should have strong project management and organizational skills. Must have strong interpersonal skills. Computer proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Power Point), and the Internet is required.
