Associate General Counsel - Litigation

Associate General Counsel - Litigation The candidate will advise the business on a wide range of litigation matters. Will have day-to-day responsibility for all litigation matters, mediations and arbitrations, except employment-related litigation. Directly manage the litigation team, which includes one senior counsel and shared paralegals; actively partner with outside counsel. Report to the SVP, General Counsel. Develop and execute litigation strategy for each matter. Manage all outside law firm partners (excluding employment firms). Budget and track spend for all litigation matters; manage fees and expenses vigilantly. Work with insurance companies to optimize coverage, if applicable. Conduct engaging internal trainings for employees on various topics to help reduce risk. Provide accurate, reasoned and concise advice on short notice without undue reliance on outside counsel. Lead dispute negotiations for various business teams from a legal perspective. Assist with efficiency and other improvements within the department. Assist with special projects as needed. Effectively communicate risk and strategy to business partners including Senior Management. Serve as single point of contact for one of the company's business units, including practical legal advice on matters beyond litigation. Should have a J.D. degree from an accredited law school. Valid license in good standing to practice law is required with membership of Colorado bar or eligible for admission to the Colorado Bar. Must have 10+ years of experience managing litigation as an attorney in private practice and/or with a large corporation. Class action defense experience required. Prop 65 and product liability experience is a plus. In-house experience preferred.
