Senior Counsel - Litigation

Senior Counsel - Litigation The candidate will oversee complex litigation matters that arise from all segments of the company, exercising strategic judgment, oversight of outside counsel and interaction with senor leaders and individual business units. Work on a team of 10-15 legal professionals, and carry the following responsibilities: Supervise outside counsel and consultants. Develop strategy and tactics for complex, high profile matters. Help prepare for litigation and responses to government investigations, including oversight of discovery, development of company and expert witnesses, etc. Liaison with communications and public affairs colleagues on high-profile matters. The candidate must have experience at both trial and appellate work, in both state and federal courts, to help oversee a broad range of complex, enterprise-wide litigation. Should have 7-10 years of experience providing legal counsel. Must have experience with litigation at both the trial and appellate levels. Should have experience with litigation in both state and federal courts. Must have proven ability to manage other attorneys and support staff. Should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to provide sound, clear legal advice to senior executives and other senior leaders. Should preferably have significant government legal experience -- either working in a legal position for the government or managing the response to litigation or investigations initiated by the government. Should preferably have experience with class actions and multidistrict litigation. Combination of private practice and in-house or government experience is desired. Experience managing and overseeing outside counsel is a plus. Experience in a highly regulated industry such as Pharmaceuticals, Insurance, Government or Banking preferred. Must have Juris Doctor Degree with excellent academic credentials. Should be member of a state bar in good standing.
