Intellectual Property Counsel The candidate will provide responsibilities include: Manages IP matters arising from Waters Liquid Chromatography and Scientific Operations functions. Advises the business on IP legal matters relating to the company, franchise or product teams, and business objectives. Works with the commercial legal team on a variety of contracts and other areas as needed to ensure that intellectual property interests are protected. Manages the IP portfolio for patent filings generated by the Massachusetts-based Liquid Chromatography and Scientific Operations franchise or product teams, reviews and directs strategy for such prosecution matters. Coordinates with the business and outside counsel to ensure that Waters interests are protected within a prescribed budget. Provides legal counsel and support on intellectual property aspects of business development activities, including conducting due diligence, facilitating transfer of legal responsibilities, assisting and/or advising on other licensing-, acquisition- or divestiture-related issues as they arise. Provides legal counsel and support on national and international litigation matters, patent office proceedings, trials, arbitration, mediation, or other dispute resolution proceedings. Consults with outside counsel to provide advice in areas of outside counsels expertise. Manages outside counsel spend within acceptable budgets. Monitors and ensures compliance with Company policies. Establishes and supports a work environment of continuous improvement.

The candidate must have a high quality intellectual property lawyer with relevant post-qualification experience (6+ years). Must have law firm or in-house experience litigating or prosecuting patent matters. Must have strong academic and science/engineering background, including substantial mechanical, chemical, electrical, physics, or biological science coursework. Must have an aptitude for learning and understanding high performance analytical test equipment. Must have excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders.
