Associate Counsel/Counsel - Labor & Employment, USH The candidate will Advise management and Human Resources with respect to employment law issues (including leaves of absence, reasonable accommodation issues, discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims, wage-and-hour matters), administration and enforcement of collective bargaining agreements, and employee performance management and discipline. Provide guidance and counsel on internal investigations of employment-related complaints, ensuring that claims are addressed promptly, thoroughly and appropriately. Investigate NLRB, DFEH, DLSE and EEOC claims and draft position statements, responses and mediation briefs. Draft settlement and separation agreements. Handle grievances arising under the collective bargaining agreements, up through and including representing the employer in arbitrations as assigned. Participate in collective bargaining, including working with management to develop negotiation proposals and strategies to meet business needs and goals as well as act as second chair in representing management at the bargaining table. Develop and maintain relationships with union business representatives to foster and continuously improve union-management relations. Create and deliver management and employee training programs. Must have Law degree. Must be Member in good standing of the State Bar of California or member in good standing of another State Bar and registered as in-house counsel. Should have 1-3 years of Employment Law experience for the Associate Counsel level and 5+ years of Employment Law experience for the Counsel level. Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
