Corporate Counsel - Compliance The candidate will : Provide legal and compliance support and advice to Lowes and its subsidiaries related to compliance with laws, rules, regulations, industry requirements, and company policies regarding consumer product safety and other regulated and non-regulated aspects of consumer products in the U.S. and Canada, including for products manufactured in Asia, Mexico, and other parts of the world. Coordinate with other in-house legal counsel in the U.S., Canada, and Asia relating to providing this support to affiliates located in those jurisdictions. Coordinate with overseas suppliers and manufacturers to satisfy reporting requirements in the U.S. and Canada. Assist a Vice President, Associate General Counsel with overseeing the work and development of in-house legal personnel, and management of outside counsel, located within and outside the U.S. relating to performing general legal work supporting Company operations in Asia and who provide additional support for the functions of this role. Specifically, assist the Vice President, Associate General Counsel by providing some oversight, mentoring, and development for, and assist with communications with, two lawyers in Shanghai, China related to providing legal and compliance services for Company operations in Asia, and at times, work related to Company operations in the U.S. and Canada in areas of product safety, product regulatory compliance, import/export, product sourcing and supply transactions, and other areas as needed. Support the Vice President, Associate General Counsel by making recommendations as to compensation, work assignments, development and hiring for these two roles and for in-house legal services management as it relates to supporting Company operations in Asia. Oversee export and import legal processes and provide legal advice to streamline operations and facilitate strategic decisions on cross-border fulfillment, including import permits and certification applications and maintenance, export control, routed export transactions, and import program integration. Provide additional transactional legal support, primarily to support the buying of home improvement products for resale in a national retailer and related third-party support services.

The candidate should have Juris Doctor Degree, Should have 1 year of experience in law firm, government agency, or multi-national corporate legal department setting for matters relating to corporate governance, and domestic and international business transactions, and 1 year of experience in developing and managing global compliance programs, including international trade, anti-corruption, tax compliance, product safety and corporate social accountability. Must have active state bar membership in good standing of at least one U.S. jurisdiction, and knowledge and exposure to legal issues encountered by a multi-national retailer. Must have prior experience with: providing legal support to branches in an organization in different geographical areas and assisting with development and management of subordinates in foreign countries; conducting negotiations, trainings, and investigations related to Company operations in Asia Pacific region, product safety, and international trade/import/export. Domestic travel required.
