Counsel/Senior Counsel, Employment and Labor Law

Counsel/Senior Counsel, Employment and Labor Law The candidate will represent firm's in response to threatened claims, and before government agencies in employment discrimination and wage claims. Provide legal counsel to clients regarding all employment and labor law issues, including non-competes and trade secrets. Counsel leadership on all aspects of daily employment-related issues, including hiring and termination, accommodations, leaves of absence, discrimination, harassment and retaliation, wage and hour, and investigations. Serve as primary legal liaison to Human Resources and provide support on employment and labor matters in the U.S. and globally. Provide employment and labor law support on corporate transactions, restructures, policies, and other employee-related matters. Partner and liaise with outside counsel on legal matters, litigation, and manages relevant external consultants. Support corporate compliance initiatives and HR projects. Provide project direction and supervision of outside counsel on domestic and international matters. Support HR in development of affirmative action plans and goals, and compliance audits. Develop and conduct employment-related training.

The candidate must have JD degree and appropriate licensure to practice law in Illinois. Should have strong understanding of federal, state and local employment and labor laws. Must have significant experience representing clients in government agencies, drafting and negotiating agreements, drafting policies, and employment litigation. Should have 6+ years of practice. Employment/labor law experience required. Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry and in-house experience strongly preferred.
