Privacy Counsel

Privacy Counsel Duties: Partner with teams Product Security, Information Technology, and Marketing, to implement best practices for management and protection of personal information and to develop, deploy and enforce appropriate policies and standards. Support the Product and Engineering teams in applying privacy by design principles, developing impact assessments, and creating and rolling out privacy collateral for customers and partners. Work with commercial attorneys on the team at a global level to facilitate negotiation of privacy and security terms with customers and suppliers, by providing training, templates, contract reviews, and support in negotiations. Support privacy compliance efforts by working with internal audit, impacted teams across the company, and external stakeholders (including regulators) as needed, providing guidance for privacy audits and facilitating development and implementation of tools, policies, procedures, etc. Provide legal advice and direction to all stakeholders across the company on the changing landscape of matters regarding privacy and data protection. Develop and deliver training and communications on privacy topics. Manage outside counsel on privacy matters.

Qualifications: 7+ years of legal experience in the technology sector, with a mix of privacy and technology transactions experience. Ability to work efficiently with cross-functional teams and manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure. Track record of successfully launching company-wide privacy initiatives a plus. Qualified to practice in at least one U.S. state, preferably California, with a law degree from a reputable law school. Working knowledge of national and international privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA as it applies to Business Associates. Experience in negotiating cloud computing (commercial and development) transactions and procurement contracts. Sense of humor, excellent interpersonal skills, business judgment, strategic thinking, superior work ethic, flexibility and ability to work independently. Demonstrated ability to proactively build strong, cross-organizational relationships and lead cross-functional projects from formulation to completion. Superior language, written and verbal communication skills. Experience in enterprise software companies preferred.
