Corporate Counsel, Global Trade Programs

Corporate Counsel, Global Trade Programs The candidate will provide legal advice concerning global trade compliance matters, including export controls, sanctions, export licensing, product diversion, deemed exports, anti-boycott laws, embargos, product classifications, global trade contract provisions, and customs matters, in support of global operations. Will manage outside counsel on global trade matters. Develop strategies to address shifts in trade compliance risk, including changes in trade policy across jurisdictions where firm operates. Develop new ideas and methods to effectively address legal issues and compliance risk. Coordinate with firm's global functions and business units on global trade policy and advocacy matters. Process government submissions for global trade matters. Oversee legal denied party screening program. Participate in M&A transaction diligence and integration support for corruption and global trade issues. Lead and coordinate occasional trainings on various topics. Draft and update policies and related training programs as needed. Coordinate and perform, as needed, compliance reviews for global trade program.

The candidate should have J.D. from accredited law school (member of CA Bar or willing to seek admission as in-house counsel in CA). Must have 6+ years of business law firm experience, with a focus on global trade, including multilateral and international legal foundations for export controls and customs laws. Experience with due diligence, risk assessment, and remediation is required. Strong interpersonal skills, including in public speaking and writing needed. Experience working in-house a plus. Proficiency with languages is a plus.
