Staff Attorney, Corporate and Sales Compliance The candidate will report to the Associate GC, Corporate and Transactions. Will review advertising and marketing programming to maintain compliance with federal and state alcohol law/policies as well as assist with the other managerial aspects of the sales compliance function of the law department, including compliance training of the sales teams. Support and train the Spirits and Wines and Champagnes teams on compliance matters regarding distribution, pricing and trade practices. Draft and negotiate agreements associated with these activities (e.g. sponsorships, co-promotions and non-disclosure agreements). Provide support to Operations, Supply Chain and Procurement teams as needed. Review local field advertising and marketing proposals to ensure compliance with federal, state, DISCUS and company guidelines. Provide oversight of trade practice activity requiring state approval. Advise sales personnel of local regulations; ensure that administrative and regulatory requirements are met within each state; research statutory and regulatory requirements and apply laws as they pertain to the beverage alcohol industry; respond to inquiries and resolve disagreements with state agencies as necessary. Manage regular updates of laws and regulations as required for the State Playbooks pertaining to alcohol beverage law. Draft agreements relating to sponsorships and co-promotions, including review and advice of such programs for compliance, as well as basic commercial contracts. Develop and implement training for sales personnel on compliance matters regarding distribution, pricing and trade practices. Maintain direct liaison with sales division managers and other relevant business personnel. Provide Operations, Supply Chain and Procurement teams as needed.

The candidate should have a J.D. degree with admission to a State Bar. Admission to the New York Bar preferred. Must have 2+ years of experience as a practicing corporate or regulatory attorney, preferably with strong contractual skills (including experience negotiating IP, marketing and/or digital/media contracts). Prior non-legal work experience is a significant plus. Past experience with alcohol beverage law a major plus. Experience presenting to senior management a plus.
