Assistant to General Counsel, Employment & Corporate Duties: Conduct analysis and research of complex legal issues. Monitor federal, state, and local legal developments and ensure Argos compliance. Oversee and provide counsel on internal investigations of violations of law, policy, and safety issues. Ensure claims are promptly addressed with a fair and thorough investigation and appropriate follow-up action and communication. Partner with appropriate Human Resources Personnel to develop and maintain policies and procedures and other material with respect to Benefits & Compensation, Inclusion & Diversity, Talent Acquisition, and Talent Management. Provide sage advice to human resources personnel and management in the following areas: Business restructuring and reductions in force. Claims of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. Wage and hour practices, including FLSA classification, Worker/Independent Contractor classification, administration of compensation programs. Represent Argo with respect to employment related disputes, including negotiation, mediation and litigation. Work with outside counsel as appropriate. Develop and deliver employment law training to human resources personnel and management to proactively address issues and changes in applicable law. Collaborate with the HR team to update and administer a compliance program to ensure compliance with key rules and regulations Assist with various complex and/or sensitive projects as assigned.

Qualifications: A JD Degree from an accredited university. Member in good standing of the State Bar of New York. 6+ years experience as an employment lawyer with experience in both law firm and in-house counsel. Insurance industry or financial services experience preferred. Proven capability providing sound advice, guidance and influence in dealing with challenging and ambiguous situations. Independent decision maker takes full responsibility for making decisions and consequences associated with decisions. Effective oral and written communication, including influence and negotiation skills. Experience in delivering presentations to all internal and external audiences. Proficient in the use of computer programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to manage competing deadlines and demands and adjust to shifting priorities within a fast-paced environment Strong work ethic and sense of professionalism, demonstrating accountability, integrity, good judgment, and respect for confidentiality.
