Corporate Counsel The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and is a talented negotiator and mediator, with the right balance of assertiveness and the ability to make quick, sound legal decisions. Overseeing all civil litigation activities related to contract disputes between the Company and its customers or vendors, managing each case from inception through to disposition and managing external counsel as required; Managing a diverse and large caseload of files in all jurisdictions across the US; Achieving resolution through negotiation (cases that cannot be resolved through negotiation or mediation can be sent to outside counsel for advancement through the courts); Supporting outside counsel in an effective manner to reduce legal spend; Overseeing the progress and managing the costs and outcomes of all outside counsel files; Drafting and negotiating of customer and vendor contracts; Supporting special projects; and General support of internal legal team. Should have Law School: preference will be given to a top-20% graduate from a nationally ranked (top 50) school, or in lieu thereof, law school awards or achievements, such as graduating with honors, law review or mock trial/moot court. Undergrad: Must have at least a Bachelor's degree and have graduated in the top 25% of their class. Should have 4-6 years of experience in corporate litigation. Previous firm experience. Be a member in good standing with the Texas State Bar or equivalent; Though not essential-each of the following is a plus : In-House corporate position. Experience conducting contract negotiations and drafting; Experience working with business team leaders on key legal issues; and Regulatory experience with or for clients in a highly regulated industry. Must have demonstrated civil litigation experience.
