Counsel - Litigation / Product Safety The candidate will be focused on managing and resolving a broad array of domestic and international litigation, product safety, and regulatory matters typically faced by multi-national consumer products companies, including matters involving the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Typical litigation matters include products liability, trade secrets, idea theft, securities, contract, privacy, and more. Will work closely with the Product Safety and Regulatory Compliance teams, among other business functions. Responsibilities also include aggressively managing outside counsel and providing legal advice and guidance to in-house clients, in an effort to reduce legal expense, reduce legal exposure, and avoid disputes. Collaborative, agile, hard-working individual, excited to join a high-performing, IP-driven toy company. Broad and deep experience with a variety of types of business litigation are required. Product safety expertise, including experience with product recalls and interactions with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and products liability litigation expertise preferred.Ability to handle ADR proceedings and settlement negotiations are required. Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and take ownership of matters through to their successful conclusion are required. Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills are required. Strong leadership and organizational skills, including planning, prioritization, and time management are required. Preference to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment are required. Foreign language skills are a plus. Experience with the collection, review, and production of electronically stored information preferred. JD from a top law school and strong academic credentials are required. 5+ years of business litigation and product safety experience are required. In-house and/or top law firm experience are required. Bar Admission in California or New York are required.
