Corporate Counsel - Employment RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensures all core values and property and department standards are implemented and applied. Manages short-and long-term departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates operational effectiveness; effects changes required for improvement. Identifies key drivers of success. Manages the departmental performance, and the accuracy, confidentiality, and thoroughness of departmental policies and procedures; records and reports. Monitors all activities of the department to ensure that all applicable internal policies, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and controls property wide are enforced. Ensures department delivers and maintains a maximum level of property-wide service and satisfaction. Facilitates communication throughout the property by organizing and presiding over regularly scheduled meetings with team members within the department and with other departments as appropriate to ensure property wide communication. Responsible for hiring, performance management, and employee engagement within the department. Provides training opportunities, constructive and positive feedback to team members within area of responsibility. Creates a motivating environment. Keeps informed of all new developments within the department and makes recommendations designed to maximize department and company success. Effectively manages internal and external guest relations, which will require levels of patience, tact and diplomacy. Responsible for addressing guest and team member issues as appropriate. Manages multiple priorities simultaneously and meets deadlines, often in stressful and high-pressure situations. Advising management and Human Resources on day-to-day employee relations matters including recruiting, hiring, employee discipline, performance management, benefits, terminations, and restructurings. Monitoring labor, employment, and benefits law developments and recommending changes to company policies, while assisting with the creation of additional policies that may be needed. Managing any and all employment-related litigation and administrative matters (e.g. OSHA, DOL, EEOC) and related investigations. Assisting the General Counsel with reporting of labor and employment matters to senior management and its Board of Directors. Managing labor relations matters and coordinating with Human Resources and outside counsel, including advising on collective bargaining agreement negotiations and grievances. Conducting internal investigations related to personnel matters. Providing counsel and guidance to Human Resources personnel conducting investigations. Managing the selection and ongoing coordination with outside counsel on any or all of the above matters. Identifying opportunities for efficiencies and coordinating with outside counsel, vendors and colleagues on process improvements. Providing training to management and Human Resources on employment law topics and other employment law compliance activities. Promote positive, fair, and ethical relations with all team member, with all contractors, and in all interactions within the Host and Surrounding communities as an ambassador of the brand.

Requirements: JD Degree. Will be required to obtain and maintain registration or a license issued by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission. 8+ years of work experience primarily related to labor and employment issues and 3-5 years of in-house counsel experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and manage multi-faceted projects in a fast-paced environment, with evolving demands and priorities. Self-starter that is able to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to address multiple and complex labor and employment matters, while balancing legal, business, and organizational considerations. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries from other employees or guests. Fluency in English required, second language a plus. Ability to write detailed instructions and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations.
