Vice President, Assistant General Counsel of Direct Banking Products The candidate will oversee, manage and develop a team of 15+ attorneys and professionals. Provide strong thought leadership and advice to senior management on the full range of legal and regulatory issues impacting Discovers consumer products and services, including federal and state consumer financial services laws and regulations and supervisory matters. Support achieving business strategies and results through legal advice that reflects an advanced ability to understand and evaluate legal and regulatory matters in the context of business objectives. Support and advise business leaders and other stakeholders on supervisory and examination matters. Assess and communicate changes in laws and regulations and work with colleagues and clients to implement changes. Develop positions and strategies on regulatory policy matters and coordinate with Government Affairs Group on advocacy activities. Work closely with Corporate Risk, Corporate Compliance and Internal Audit on consumer compliance matters. The candidate must have Juris doctor degree. Should have admission to a state bar. Should have 15+ years of experience in consumer financial services law. Must have experience managing a large team of attorneys. Should have in-depth understanding of how legal issues affect organizations. Must have ability to set strategic direction and deliver practical business solutions. Should have demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative, interdependent environment in which success depends on sharing opportunities, responsibility and credit. Must have excellent communication skills and executive presence.
