Senior Corporate Counsel

Senior Corporate Counsel The candidate acts as a primary legal resource on a dedicated basis for one or more functional departments for companies in the NTALife group (the Company ) and as a supplemental legal resource for special projects conducted by the Company. Provides advice and counsel to Company management on matters relevant to assigned departments and special project undertakings that require legal interpretation and direction. Reports to Assistant General Counsel. Performs legal research on issues presented by assigned department operations to ensure appropriate response and avoid adverse legal consequences. Drafts and negotiates documents supporting departmental and project activities in keeping with Companys document control policy. Serves on special purpose teams (such as SIU, claim appeals, rescissions) that require writing skills and/or legal analytics. Assists with internal investigations as requested. Performs other duties as assigned. Active Listening: Be engaged in the exchange of ideas by giving full attention to what others say, asking questions appropriate to the subject matter and considering both side of a point before making a decision or providing advice. Should have J.D. from accredited law school and active Texas bar license required; undergraduate degree in business-related subject a plus. 3+ years of legal practice or substantial corporate work experience required; life and health insurance industry experience preferred. Strong organization and communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel and standard legal research tools (Lexis Nexis). Should have Document drafting expertise.
